General Information:

The balls will start flying on January 10th.  Games will run from 8-9 pm and will be round robin style, with time limits so that all teams will have an opportunity to play each other during the night.  The last Thursday night will be playoffs, with the winning team winning some type of boobie prize.  Remember, the entry fee is only $10 for beer and games, so how good can the prizes be?  Speaking of beer-any beer requests for the after party?  The after party venue will be announced on January 10th at the game.  Just don’t want to put anyone’s address on this very public website J.

We’ll play on Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31 and Feb. 7.  The playoff date is Feb. 7th.  You must be registered to play (you can’t bring your friends last minute, if a teammate can’t make it that night) and this must be done by December 28th, so that I have time to organize the teams.  So far, we have a couple teams returning from Season 1.

I highly recommend players arrive by 7:45 pm so that we can use all of the gym time, beginning right at 8 pm.  If you have any Jewish friends that want to play or join your team, have them register asap and let me know.  We can’t have more than 60 people and registration is first come first serve.

League Rules:

1.     All members of team should wear the same color t shirt or something that basically matches that will set your team apart from other teams.

2.     Each team should have a captain.

3.     Games will have a 5 minute time limit.  If you finish your game before the time is up, start up a second game with the same opponent.  Only the first game will count on the official records.

4.     Game balls will be provided.  6 balls are used per game and will be placed on the center line when the game starts.

5.     Starting the game: All players line up against the wall on their respective sides.  When the whistle is blown, players can rush to the center line to grab the free balls.  Balls can’t be thrown to the opposing team until the ball holder has brought it back to the base line first, at the opening of the game.

6.     Playing: the goal is to knock out/eliminate players on the opposite team.

7.     Elimination is done by throwing the ball and hitting a player on the opposite team on the shoulders or below (no head shots), before the ball hits the ground.  A ball that has hit the ground, wall, or middle curtain first is considered a dead ball.  If you are hit by a dead ball, you are not out.

8.     You can also get someone out by catching an airborne ball that someone from the opposing team threw.  If a ball hits a player, then the wall, and then a teammate catches it off of the wall, the opposing player that threw the ball is out.

9.     When a player is out, he/she goes to the sideline and is not allowed to interfere with “in” players or the balls.

10.  A player on the sideline in “out” status can return to the game if a playing teammate catches an air ball from an opposing    team throw.  1 catch equals 1 credit.  Players will return to the game in the order they got knocked out.  First one out who has been waiting the longest will be the first one to return to the game.

11.  If one team has all of the balls, they are required to throw at least 1 ball within 5 seconds.

12. Winning the game: either one team eliminates all players from the other team or when the time limit is reached, the team with more players on the court will win.

13.  Games will be self refereed, so please be honest when you get knocked out.

14.  Teams can have a maximum of 10 players and anyone that shows up from that team can play, even if that means that one team has 7 players and the other has 9.  The purpose of this is because no one ever wants to sit on the sidelines as a sub, especially if they are paying to play and also, it is a way to encourage your teammates to show up so that you have a full squad.

15.  Coed games mean that teams are coed and should have at least 1 male and 1 female.  After that, it doesn’t matter.  There are no rules as to how many men or women need to be on a team or on the court at the start of the game.

16.  Trash talking (in good spirit) is totally legal.

17.  Have fun!  This was set up so that we would all have some fun competition and socialization, the Old Skool way.

18.  If we need to make a rule modification, we’ll change it and let teams know of the change in advance.
