When is registration due?
Ideally, by Friday, June
6. You can turn in registration
and payment at the Kickoff Barbeque on Wednesday, June 11th, as long as you
have RSVPed in advance.
Who is eligible to participate?
Jewish kids/teens in grades 6-12, as of September, 2008.
What do I have to do to register?
Fill out the registration form, sign the waiver, and mail those documents and a check (made out to Portland Maccabi Club) to Jodi Berris/Portland Maccabi Club; 6217 SW 33 Pl.; Portland, OR 97239.
What sports are being offered?
Tennis, track, swimming, table tennis, 3v3 soccer, 3v3 basketball, bowling, golf, dance, and chess.
Will 6th graders play against 11th graders?
No. Sport divisions will be broken down into Jr. Maccabi (grades 6-8) and Sr. Maccabi (grades 9-12)
Do boys and girls play together?
Although practices will be combined, competition will be divided into girls and boys divisions.
Are you still looking for coaches?
Yes, specifically for table tennis, chess, and swimming.
How much does it cost to participate and what does that include?
$36 – includes Portland Maccabi Club T-shirt, all practices, socials, and competition.
How will the sport rules and tournaments be set?
They will be determined in June by the Portland Maccabi Committee and the sport coordinators/coaches.
What events will be done at the swim and track meets?
TBD.
Will there be singles and doubles in tennis and table tennis?
TBD.
Will chess be divided by grade or by level?
TBD.
How will the dance competition work?
TBD.
What are the sport venues?
JCC: Soccer, basketball,
swimming, chess, dance, table tennis

Can I play 2 sports?
No. Sport competitions will be going on simultaneously, so playing 2 sports is not possible.
If I am playing 3v3 soccer or 3v3 basketball, can I choose my team?
Yes. Please indicate that on the registration form.
Is the Portland Maccabi Club accepting donations?
Yes. Please contact Jodi if you’d like to make a tax deductible donation.
Can I participate if I can only make it to some of the practices and socials?
Yes. Come to what you want and can.
Can I participate if I can make some or all of the social and practices, but not the actual competition day?
Definitely. Join in on whatever you can attend and just let us know if you won’t be there on competition day.
When are the socials?
The Athlete/Family Kickoff
BBQ is on Wednesday, June 11th, 7 pm.
Sports Night with the Seniors
(at Robison Jewish Health Center) is on Sunday, July 13th,
The Parent/Athlete Softball
Game will be in early August.
Date, time, and location TBD.

Where and when is the Athlete/Family Kickoff BBQ?
It’s at the Moishe House: 6217 SW 33rd Pl.; Portland, OR 97239 at 7 pm.
Will the food be kosher at the Athlete/Family Kickoff BBQ?
Yes. All food served at the Moishe House is
strictly kosher and under the supervision of the Oregon K hechsher.
Do family members need to pay
extra for the Kickoff Barbeque?
No. Donations are always accepted, though.
Will there be competition uniforms?
No.
How many practices will I have and when will they be?
That will be determined by the sport coordinator/coach. He or she will be in touch with you.
Will there be a tournament day opening ceremony and closing ceremony?
Yes. Details TBD.
I am a graduating high school senior. How do I get involved?
Be an assistant coach or a volunteer.
Are volunteers needed?
Yes. Please contact Jodi if you’re able to help out on tournament day or at any of the socials.
